VHCC is committed to providing emergency funds for our students so that finances are never a barrier to achieving educational goals.
Many students face unforeseen financial circumstances that can impact their graduation or enrollment. The Student Emergency Fund's primary objective is to help students overcome these financial barriers to completing their training and education.

Student Emergency Funds can be used for the following types of needs (plus others):
- Transportation assistance - to assist the student to get to the community college, i.e., car repairs caused by accidents or mechanical problems.
- Housing assistance - to maintain or obtain adequate or temporary shelter while participating in educational activities.
- Financial emergencies - preventing the payment of a utility bill (water, gas, and electric) or medical bill
- Childcare or dependent care assistance – allowing students to attend classes
- VHCC Food Depot – for students needing assistance for food and household supplies
- Computer, Books, & Supplies – lost during the storms caused by Hurricane Helene
